WorldBuilder Pro 3.2 in Beta Now, To Be Released in August
San Antonio, TX -- July 22nd, 2002. At booth 5062 at
Siggraph, 2002 Digital Element has announced an August release for a free
upgrade to its award-winning 3d modeling and rendering software WorldBuilder.
The upgrade is a re-architecture of some key rendering systems, along
with A-buffering, making WorldBuilder 3.2 more fully optimized for high-definition
renderings. WorldBuilder 3.2 will be available in August as a free download
for existing users. New documentation for WorldBuilder will be available
soon thereafter as a free .pdf download.
“We’ve improved some of the features of WorldBuilder, but
that isn’t really the point of 3.2.” says Don McClure, President,
“What 3.2 is about is meeting the specific needs of our user base
in terms of stability and workflow.” Digital Element has been the
exclusive developer and distributor for WorldBuilder for almost two years,
but only recently acquired the technology. Since the acquisition, Digital
Element has outlined a 2-year plan for expanding the product line in terms
of breadth and depth, emphasizing workflow and interconnectivity with
other packages.
Plans have been announced for WorldBuilder 3.5 as a paid upgrade. No release
date or discussion of feature set have been released.
WorldBuilder Pro was first published in 1995 as AnimaTek WorldBuilder
and is used around the world by CG artists in architecture, computer game
design, landscape architecture, civil engineering, and education. Users
have regularly received discounted and often free upgrades from Digital
Element, and AnimaTek before them.
WorldBuilder’s ground-breaking communication plug-ins allow users
of Max, Poser or Viz to create a dual development environment with WorldBuilder
and the target package, that eliminate the need for importing/exporting
in the traditional sense and allow artists to work in a dual development
environment, with each object rendering in its native environment and
compositing together during render time. With compatibility to Lightwave,
Maya, AutoCAD and other packages included, WorldBuilder integrates into
most production pipelines.
