Digital Element Releases AnimaTek WorldBuilder 3.1

Digital Element Releases Free Upgrade to Popular WorldBuilder Software Package
Digital Element Announces Major Update with the release of WorldBuilder3.1

Oakland, CA – December 10, 2001. Digital Element is proud to announce the immediate availability of WorldBuilder 3.1 Standard and Professional.

This update to WorldBuilder introduces several major improvements to the software including bug fixes, improvements on flickering, 3-D animated tutorials and the inclusion of Poser-Pro Pack Communicator support. Along with last month’s release of the Allen Whitt Tutorial and Source Pack, WorldBuilder 3.1 represents a major step forward in ease of use and stability of WorldBuilder. The update is free to existing WorldBuilder 3.0x users.

“Productivity, ease of use, and compatibility have been Digital Element’s key goals for the WorldBuilder product line in 2001.” Says Don McClure, President of Digital Element, Inc. “Our recent support for a Poser/WorldBuilder dual development environment, as well as the introduction of on-line, animated tutorials has had a lot of very positive feedback from new users.”

Some of the improvements that 3.1 offers:

  • Accelerated up viewports and added new shortcuts.
  • WorldBuilder 3.1 now offers transparency for area materials! You can adjust the transparency of an area material so that the underlying material can be seen.
  • Improved anti-aliasing. The texture anti-aliasing is generally revised. Anti- aliasing on the imported 3DS-materials is supported. Aliasing of the texture-based bumping is remarkably reduced.
  • The shadow projector now lets you lock the shadow view on an object or a group of objects – it will take care of fitting the object if either the light source or the object is animated.
  • Improvements to leaves, volumetric light, parallel and point light shadows, areas on 3D meshes, rivers, and grass.
  • Interface for persistent objects was also improved.

“For a professional 3D package, WorldBuilder 3.1 was pretty easy to learn.” Says Angela Moreno, computer graphics student “The tutorials really helped and the interface was pretty intuitive if you know 3D packages. I was surprised at how much power WorldBuilder had to offer.”
