Digital Element Announces Release of Aurora 2™

Digital Nature Effect Plug-in for Photoshop

OAKLAND, CA (June 26th, 2003) Digital Element, an Oakland-based software developer and publishing firm specializing in art tools, announced today the release of Aurora 2 for Photoshop, the sequel to Digital Element’s 4 ½ star plug-in for Photoshop.

Photoshop users who work with outdoor scenes and have not tried Aurora will be amazed by the crisp, realistic nature effects created by Aurora. Aurora lets users quickly add computer-generated digital nature effects to any picture. Aurora’s features include:

*Sky gradient and haze effects
*Clouds – from stormy Cirrus clouds to puffy Nimbus clouds
*Suns and moons – including corona and light rays
*Lighting effects, including automatic interpolation of volumetric light points in leaves
*Water with waves, reflections and underwater scenes with lights from above.

Beginning users can use presets and the variation wizard to create unique, stunning effects in minutes. Advanced users will appreciate the over 120 controls which give them power over translucency and reflection colors, cloud shaping, cloud overtones and more. You can save your favorite scene and reload it later to make production work easier and rendering quality can be varied from a draft rendering to a production rendering.

Current Aurora users will love Aurora 2’s new moon feature, with textured moon surface and moon phases, as well as 3D shapeable “puffy” Nimbus clouds, and underwater scenes. Users will also appreciate the improved User Interface, including Zoom, Preview, and graphic UI for sun and moon placement, and improved cloud placement that makes it easier to obtain realistic earth-like results.

Powerful features such as scene variation, which lets you vary individual elements randomly in a scene and the advantages of a fractal-generated 3D world in Photoshop which supports sky dome pictures, can support almost any resolution (10,000 pixels x 10,000 pixels is not uncommon), and contiguous panoramic views have earned Aurora high praise from web designer and general graphics professionals to wedding photographers. Aurora 1.0 received 4 ½ stars from Photoshop User Magazine and has received top acclaim from Photoshop Professional and casual users alike.

Aurora 2 retails for $199 for the boxed version and $179 for the download versions. Aurora 1 registered users can get Aurora 2 for only $99. Aurora 2 works with OS 9, OS X, and PC platforms. A limited demo and more product information will be available on Friday, June 27th at www.digi-element.com.
