Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What about volumetric effects? What about combining volumetric effects from two packages?

A: Volumetric effects can be applied. Rosetta only renders volumetric effects that are applied in a package which is the last in the render queue.

Q: I am having problems trying to transfer shadows using Rosetta. How can I generate the shadows?

A: Follow these steps and the shadow will be generated.

1. If you created light in WB then select light, in the property tree Shadow must to be turned "ON", Shadow Parameters --> Generate Map --> Select "Every Frame".
If you created light in MAX then select light in MAX, then go to "Modify" tab -->Shadow Turn it "ON"..

2. If you created lights in WB In CommUI then drag and drop lights from WB into MAX.
If you created light in MAX then from MAX into WB. After that go to WB and select light, in the property tree Shadow has to be "ON", Shadow Parameters --> Generate Map --> Put "Every Frame".

3. In CommUI check "Shadows" and click on the "Light Bulb" Icon. Check all of the light sources (or only those which you definitely know must generate shadows).

4. Start Render.

Q: I cannot get the LightWave object to cast a shadow into the WorldBuilder Scene

A: When you are working with LightWave, the number on the first frame is very important. The first frame should be named frame 1, not frame 0, in order for Rosetta to function properly.
